Numeracy and Literacy

Literacy and numeracy problems can be a great barrier to effective and safe work practices for some mine workers, due to their inability to properly understand signage, workplace health and safety documents and other important printed material. However, numeracy or literacy problems should not be considered a barrier to applying for a position in our Mobile Mining and Civil School training programs.

NPC is committed to ensuring all our workers are confident with their literacy and numeracy skills. Both the Mobile Mining and Civil School programs and NPC’s on-site training provides opportunities for trainees and employees with limited levels of numeracy and literacy skills to improve their levels.

We will assist to develop or find programs to alleviate literacy and numeracy problems.
